Abstract

The field of Documentation in Spain, the Semiotics is a source to conceptual influences. Some applied works in Documentational Semiotics began in the 1980s in Spain. Since then, it was considered that document processes are semiotic activity, among them translation, conversion, transmission and interpretation of signs. This research aims to examine which semiotic theories are present in the field of Documentation in Spain. The hypothesis is that the semiotic orientation of Spanish documentation studies still requires more comprehensive and systematic treatment in the literature, because it involves elements and processes importants in knowledge organization. This proposal is to describe and analyze the disciplinary theoretical relationships between the Semiotics and Documentation in Spain. Thus, this research proposal can develop an overview of Spanish research within the field of semiotics applied to Documentation. (AU)
