Abstract

This project aims to understand the educational potency of images in the Plato, his erotic and moral character for the formation of the soul. The central issue relates to the question: how is it possible to educate the soul through images? We propose the following objectives to be achieved in the end of this investigation: Examine the erotic and moral nature of the education, in view of the mythical references Plato. Explain the relationship between the immortality of the soul and the reminiscence of knowledge, considering the conditions of possibility for education. Explain the beautiful character of images and their relationship with the gods, in particular, Eros and Aphrodite. Examine the way as the beautiful images guide the soul to the Good and true knowledge. Each of these four research objectives are studied in their specific time. The methodology adopted in this research intends to interpret (by the hermeneutic mode) some Platonic dialogues and passages, with the help of influents studious in the area. (AU)
