Abstract

The proper documentation of Architectural Heritage is a concern since 1885, with the first studies of the pioneer of Architectural Photogrammetry, Albrecht Meydenbauer. In 1987, the ICOMOS recommended to members countries, the creation of a photogrammetric registry of theirs monuments and sites. The technological development allowed the Architectural Heritage was documented graphically from three-dimensional measurements, creating 3D models, with provides a detailed study of heritage and promotes the work of archaeologists, architects, historians and others professionals. For many years, the Close Range Photogrammetry was used to survey the Historical Heritage. This technique has become faster and more accessible with the evolution of digital cameras. Despite of the advent of the technologies and the importance of quality documentation, only exist a little number of studies with a rigorous analysis of the requirements for the registration of Architectural Heritage, focusing on analysis of the geometry of the models, generated by just digital processes. In this context, will be realized theoretical and experimental studies to evaluate and extend the specifications and standards, especially with regards to the use of digital cameras based on Photogrammetric techniques for recording and modeling of Architectural Heritage.
