Abstract

The Ancistrini tribe consists of 217 valid species, which are distributed in 29 genera, so that in Brazil 21 genera are found, in a total of 78 nominal species. Among these, the Ancistrus genus is one of the most diversified tribe and now has 59 nominal species and can be distinguished from other loricariids due to the absence of plaques and odontodes anterior margin of the snout, where there are only small fleshy tentacles odontodes interoperculares well developed. Several species of the Ancistrus genus have been described in the region of the Amazon and Paraguay rivers basins in the Amazonas and Mato Grosso states, so this region is home to a great diversity of species of the genus. These fish also have the rather dubious taxonomy, yet there needs an identification key for these species. Despite the existence of morphological, systematic and phylogenetic studies that indicate that the genus Ancistrus is a monophyletic unit, the phylogenetic relationships in the genus yet remain uncertain due to the large number of descriptions and redescriptions already performed. In this sense, this proposal aims to carry out phylogenetic, phylogeographic analysis and molecular discrimination through sequences of mitochondrial genes ATP synthase subunit 6 and8 and Cytochrome oxidase c subunit I, in species of the Ancistrus genus that composing the Paraguay River basin, Amazon and Araguaia-Tocantins basins in the Mato Grosso state.
