On the necessity of studying the changes made in the urban environment and the installation of synanthropic insects in densely inhabited by the human population, this project aims to contribute to the knowledge of population analysis of two culicids species, Culex quinquefasciatus and Culex nigripalpus, both considered potential vectors of several Arbovirus, which can lead to changes in the spectra of diseases, contributing to the change in the epidemiological profile and harms public health, because they are highly adapted in São Paulo, being easily found inhabiting the city parks. The study of population analysis using microsatellites and morphometric analysis of wings may contribute to the understanding of the movement of these species within the municipal parks located throughout the city of São Paulo, as well as in the understanding of the maintenance of these species in urban environments, collaborating with the knowledge of their ecology and producing information for controlling of the same, since the investigation of the behavior of the species and possible subspecies is important in the understanding of diseases that may be installed in the urban environment. Samples of the species of Cx. quinquefasciatus and Cx. nigripalpus have been already collected during the execution of the project entitled "Biodiversity of mosquitoes (Diptera: Culicidae) in the parks of the city of São Paulo (FAPESP Biota: 2010/51230-8).
