Abstract

This undergraduate research project has as main proposal the synthesis of chiral ionic liquids from Morita-Baylis-Hillman (MBH) adducts. The target chiral ionic liquids will be prepared using MBH adducts as building blocks and imidazol as nucleophile. The quaternization of the nitrogen atom present in the imidazol nucleus will finish the synthethic proposed sequence. Having the imidazole derivatives in hands, it will be possible to perform a hydrogenation of the double bond in order to obtain the new ionic liquids in its racemic and enantiomerically pure form.
