Interfaces between the Theater of the Oppressed and Pedagogy of the Oppressed

Abstract

This project aims to examine aspects of the work of Augusto Boal, founder of Theatre of the Oppressed, making correlations between the elements of these aesthetics and those of Pedagogy of the Oppressed, developed by Paulo Freire. Aiming to highlight the dimensions or points of contact between the two proposals, it's believed that the study of this interface between the pedagogical method of Pedagogy of the Oppressed and the aesthetics of Theatre of the Oppressed may contribute to deepen the knowledge constructed in the educational dimension of Theatre of the Oppressed, exploring the social functions that arise from this meeting. In addition to the theoretical study of the two methods, it is also expected a field research to establish a direct contact with the practices of the Theatre of the Oppressed in the Center Theatre of the Oppressed in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
