The sugar-acohol sector in Brazil has experienced successive increases in demand and production. This increase in production can allow a more profitable use of sub-products, such as fusel oil produced from bioethanol distilleries. The energy requirements and the addition of value to by-products are the areas that can have the greatest impact in the sustainability and profitability of ethanol production in the medium term. Fusel oil is composed of a mixture of higher alcohols, containing mainly isoamyl alcohol, can be used as reagent in organic sythesis and an industrial solvent. In the field of energy, the development of technologies distillation with greater efficiency is useful since the costs of distillation stage constitutes considerable part of total operating costs of ethanol production, besides of the reducing the consumption of steam which increases the amount of bagasse available for the generation of bioelectricity and ethanol cellulosic. In this context, the purpose of this study is to evaluate the process configuration for isoamyl alcohol production integrated with hydrous ethanol production at the same plant using rigorous simulation. This study proposes to develop a process configuration for hydrous ethanol production integrated with isoamyl alcohol production using rigorous simulations through the softwares Aspen Plus and Aspen Dynamics. The total annual cost (energy and capital costs) will use as the objective function for optimization of integrated process and assessment of technology heat integration (divided wall column and columns of multiple effect). Also, be studied dynamic control configuration with lower total annual cost. (AU)
