Occupational exposure to biological materials and monitoring protocol

Abstract

Health workers are exposed to the same risks as other Brazilian workers, but is increased in this case, the occupational exposure to potentially contaminated biological materials, which are a serious risk to health professionals in their local job. Objective: to study the characteristics of the accident and of occupational exposure of health workers to biological material, assess adherence to chemoprophylaxis and examinations protocol control and / or monitoring. Methodology: This is a descriptive epidemiological study of cases of work accidents with exposure to biological material registered at the University Hospital of Taubaté in the period between 2010 and 2012. The data will be obtained from the Accident Notification Form with Bio Health Professionals - Information System for Notifiable Diseases -Service Monitoring and Control of Hospital Infection of the hospital. Analysis: Descriptive analysis of data collected through the use of Excel and Stata Statistical Software 9.0.
