Abstract

This paper discusses non-destructive analysis of structural masonry, based on the method of flat-jack.The method of flat-jack is used for analysis of brick masonry structures in getting actual data. This method is already part of standard recommendations such as ASTM. However, the part covered in standards and most studies and applications already made on the subject deal with massive masonry with elements such as brick or stone .Thus, this study aims to verify the applicability of the method of flat-jack for nondestructive analysis of masonry composed of hollow concrete blocks. It is intended to verify the accuracy of the method for obtaining properties such as compressive strength and strain in masonry samples whose values are known. The verification will be done by comparing the known values with the values obtained by analysis.After the checks , we intend to apply the method in a real building , which is running , getting information on site structure , so as not to cause permanent damage to this .If the method is verified flat-jack to obtain actual data within the concrete block structure, may in the future be possible to assess cases of non-compliance of buildings already occupied and run by using this method .
