Aroeira, Myracrodruon urundeuva, is an arboreal species of recognized economic value, due to the extraordinary durability and resistance of its wood, and its pharmacological use. About the wide geographic distribution of this species in Brazil, the high rate of fragmentation of their habitats led to the category of "endangered". The reduction, isolation and limitation of habitat for re-colonization and expansion of populations promote loss of genetic variability through genetic drift. This work will be carried out in order to assess genetic variation retained in progenies of aroeira that make up the collection of germoplasma of the Engenharia de Ilha Solteira (FEIS/UNESP), in Selvíria-MS, Brazil, in order to allow the growth of genetic basis, recombination of variability and production of seed for reforestation. It is intended to characterize the structure and genetic diversity and crossing system of four populations from different Biomes, and to estimate inbreeding , coancestry and effective size of the same, by means of microsatellites markers (SSR), associated with the evaluation quantitative traits (silvicultural). Information obtained from this study will be useful for conservation and genetic improvement of the species, as well as for selecting potential matrices for environmental recovery. (AU)
