Abstract

The obesity is associated with adipose tissue, liver and muscle insulin resistance and a chronic low grade inflammatory process. The adipose tissue depots from the obese secrete proinflammatory adipokines like TNF-±, IL-1 and IL-6, and reduce the production of anti-inflammatory factors as adiponectin and IL-10. The nuclear transcription factor kappa B (NFºB) is one of pathway evolved in the inflammatory response induced by obesity. The activation of this pathway by lipopolysaccharides and saturated fat acid promote a production of inflammatory cytokines and the development of inflammation, insulin resistance leading to metabolic syndrome. Healthy food can control and prevent the metabolic syndrome. In this sense, chia seed (Salvia hispanica L), an oleaginous rich in many nutrients including PUFA, shows an antiinflammatory effect. But studies on the celular mechanisms and possible relation to adipokines and miokines evolved in the effect of chia is sparce. Then, the aim of this study is the treatment with Salvia Hipânica L. on inflammatory mediators and activation of TLR-4 pathway in the white adipose tissue, skeletal muscle and liver, from mouse treated with hyperlipidic and hypercaloric diet.
