The State of São Paulo has as one of its major rivers Tietê, this is an extremely important source due to its biodiversity, and mostly use in navigation as a direct supplier of water for thousands of local residents. Currently, the biodiversity of marine and freshwater ecosystems have been threatened, mainly by environmental problems resulting from the degradation of ecosystems. An example is the Battle River Basin belonging to the Middle Tietê, runs about 167 kilometers and has suffered from various anthropogenic stresses. Studies of parasites of aquatic organisms have considerably increased the relevance, especially those with potential hosts for growing and marketing, given the significant increase in these activities in Brazil. Among the agents responsible for diseases in fish are the myxosporean, which can cause significant economic damage, with high mortality ratios. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the biodiversity of myxosporean parasites of fish from Battle River with morphological characterizations by transmission electron microscopy (MET) and histology, formulating new protocols for the use of such techniques to minimize losses of collections materials, since there are some steps of methodologies that do not have satisfactory results and quality for diagnosis. In addition, there is the socio-economic importance of this river to the area and diversity of fish, with great possibilities of description of new species. (AU)
