This research project at undergraduate level is inserted in a master research entitled "The social and environmental quality of the open spaces of favela: study and proposal in reference to the city of Sao Paulo", financed by Fapesp, process number 2011/15988-6, developed by Eduardo Pimentel Pizarro, with Professor Joana Carla Soares Gonçalves as tutor. The main objective is to contribute with the master research in an ergonomic focus. The object of the research is the evaluation of the performance of the internal and external spaces of the social housing, with an ergonomic focus and regarding to the functions and activities developed. The main objective of the research is, through the assessment of the adequation of the spaces to their uses and functions, propose guidelines to improve the life quality of the residents. Furthermore it is highlighted the importance of the performance evaluation with an ergonomic focus of these spaces, through the evaluation of the consolidated areas (acess, public and semipublic spaces, flows), and, mainly, the adequacy of the uses and functions proposed, giving urbanistic and architectural quality in the habits and uses of the social housing.
