Vaccinal profile of dialysis-dependent chronic renal failure population in Sao Carlos - SP, focus on yellow Fever vaccine

Abstract

Data on safety and efficacy of yellow fever vaccine in patients with dialysis-dependent chronic renal failure are scarce. Yellow fever vaccination is indicated in São Carlos city according to the recommendations of the Ministry of Health. The recommendation of yellow fever vaccine in patients with dialysis-dependent chronic renal failure in San Carlos makes the region propitious for a more detailed study on vaccine safety in this population. The study will be conducted at the Serviço de Nefrologia de São Carlos, which provides regular dialysis services for 158 patients coming in São Carlos city and region. Eligible patients will be adults who agree to participate in the study and to sign the informed consent term. Only patients with available vaccine information will be considered for study. Patients participating will be submitted to interview, review of medical records and vaccination charts. Patients whose vaccination charts were not updated will be further referred to the basic health unit for vaccination, and the possible adverse effects of yellow fever vaccine will be assessed.
