Abstract

This research project has as the main goal to study comparatively the Rodriguean dramaturgy via-à-vis the scenic potentiality of two of the most prominent theatre directors that took the work of Nelson Rodrigues to the stage: Antunes Filho and José Celso Martinez Corrêa. The contrast between the author's poetics and the scenic composition of both directors is the point to be reached here, by means of defining the characteristics of each director and what makes them unique in relation to the dramaturgy of Nelson Rodrigues, whose dialogic strength is still a reference in Brazilian theatre. For this, we intend to outline some of the main points in the aesthetic construction of the Rodriguean theatrical work, emphasizing its hybrid nature through the mythic, tragic, comical proposal etc.; next, having a greater clarity and understanding of the matrices which compose this body of work, it will be possible to approach the stage productions selected (Nelson 2 Rodrigues, Paraíso Zona Norte, Senhora dos afogados e A falecida Vapt-Vupt, directed by Antunes Filho, and Boca de Ouro, directed by José Celso Martinez Corrêa), comprising the appropriation that each director makes of the playwright in order to the scenic authorship that distinguishes both.
