Abstract

My proposal for the Ph.D. is conducting a methodological discussion, seeking a collaborative practice, about modes of democratization and negotiation of narratives about the past and present of a specific place among the different groups involved. Through oral history and ethnography, I intend to develop a project which aims at highlighting the multivocality during archaeological research, under the critical perspective of public archeology. My field work will take place in a project of archeology of slavery in Pelotas / RS. Among the various stages of an archaeological work, I will pay close attention to the fieldwork stage, being a crucial moment in which researchers and the public meet in person, and individual interviews, for its importance as a moment of creation of personal narratives about the past and present.
