Abstract

The aim of this study is to make in vitro assays of different experimental surface sealants and its effects on composite resins. In the first study, Nanopool® Liquid Glass (NPLG) is applied on disks (7mmx2mm) of 3 types of composites, generating 6 groups (n=8): Filtek Z250XT control; Filtek Z350XT control; IPS Empress Direct control; Filtek Z250XT + NPLG; Filtek Z350XT + NPLG; IPS Empress Direct + NPLG. The Surface Roughness (Ra), surface free energy (erg/cm-2) and color change (E) will be evaluated. In the second study, a Bisema+TEGDMA monomer matrix loaded with inorganic silicon and barium glass particles will be used as control and standard blend for experimental resins. The standard blend will be modified by NPLG (NPLG) and the other will be modified by Acrylate Polysiloxane (PSA) addition. These fluid resins will be applied on 10 discs (7mmx2mm) of Filtek Z250XT resin, thus the color change (E) and contact angle (o) will be measured on them. Ten disks of massive fluid resins (5mmx2mm) will be the elastic modulus measured from Knoop microhardness values. Other 10 discs (6mmx1mm) of each resin will be made to measure water sorption and solubility. The degree of conversion will be measured by Forrier Transformed Spectroscopy (FITIR). The surface micromorphology will be observed in scanning electron microscopy. According to data normality and homogeneity the results will be evaluated by appropriate statistical tests for each assay. (AU)
