Abstract

Brazil, the largest country in the Neotropics, has a fauna of freshwater fish extremely diverse. Currently, the biodiversity of marine and freshwater ecosystems has been threatened, especially by environmental problems resulting from the degradation of ecosystems, an example is the Battle River. The Battle River Basin belongs to the Middle Tietê and travels about 167 km. This river is responsible for supplying 45% of the population and Bauru, according to the classification of Cetesb, your water is considered good quality. However, misuse and occupation by activities in its drainage area (crop, forestry, and livestock) have reduced the native forest and riparian, triggering changes in the quality of its waters and exhibition areas of the springs to increasing erosion areas of land adjacent to the river, leading to siltation of its bed, and the pollution of its waters. In addition, there are large industries in most cities bordering the Battle River, which contribute to the pollution of the river, beyond the fact that some cities treat only a percentage of their sewage, the rest being thrown in the river "in nature". In recent years, parasites have been recognized as important components of global biodiversity. Determine the integral role of parasites in natural ecosystems, identifying access points to high parasite diversity, as well as areas of low diversity is crucial to the full knowledge of the functioning of the biosphere. Thus, the main objective of this project will be to qualitatively and quantitatively diagnose the parasite communities of metazoan parasites of Corydoras aeneus (Gill, 1858) in the Battle River to increase the knowledge of the biodiversity of the state of São Paulo.(AU)
