Combative poetics: theatre of the oppressed and black feminism

Abstract

The Research Project entitled "Combative Poetics: Theatre of Oppressed and Black Feminism" aims to reflect on the relationship between theatre, feminine gender and race, through the creation of a theatrical experiment in the form of a laboratory, according to the proposals of the Theatre of the Oppressed, and applications of Oral History.In addition, we intend to question whether Theatre of Oppressed (TO), based on the work of the playwright Augusto Boal, can contribute to the emancipation of black women who participate in the theatrical process, in areas such as sexual, political, educational, public health, labor market and media representation. The Oral History will be used for the assembly and analysis of the experiences of the participants, establishing the interchange between theatrical theory and practice. In order to understand the current condition of black women and black feminism in Brazil, the literature review will be complemented by field research with the theatre group Capulanas Cia de Arte Negra, highlighting their creative procedures. The analysis will converge with elements found in the theatrical laboratory with black women in the city of São Paulo. This research, therefore, intends to enable the comparison between this methodological approach - the TO - and the proposals from the black feminism in the national context. (AU)
