Abstract

This research proposal intends to write women worker's history in struggle for their rights for a female labor regulation in Sao Paulo, between 1917 e 1937, it means, since 1917 general strikes until the creation of Women National Department (Departamento Nacional da Mulher), in 1937. Women's protagonism within labor movement and notion that Vargas social legislation is not just a gift offered by republic presidents are points well explored by historiography. However, it is still necessary to reveal what particularities involved the process that ended in regulation of female work and what were the mechanisms chosen to maintain their interests in public sphere. Official papers, documents from International Labor Office, labour press e policy papers are the group of documents selected to achieve the aim of this proposal, which intends to discuss the historic process that involves the women rights and fight for gender equality in world of labor.
