Abstract

In March 2012 in the municipality of Embu das Artes (SP) was formed the camp "New Pinheirinho". The name of the camp was given in allusion to the urban camp which was located in São José dos Campos (SP) and whose residents (approximately 6000 people) suffered a violent eviction in January 2012. The New Pinheirinho occupation occurred in an area that belongs to CDHU (Society of Occupational and Urban Development), and since 2006 is in a legal impasse, because of environmental problems. Faced with this impasse homeless families organized occupied the area for housing demand to the State. The most of the families came from previous camps and other occupations as the Pinheirinho. The IC student should conduct a socioeconomic and ethnographic survey aiming to understand the sociogenesis of this camp, based on the proposal of the encampment form, as a language for demand benefits to the State. As we know, this demand model has its own constitution processes that vary according to the specific circumstances. These variations (movement that organizes the occupation, population, relationships with certain sectors of the state, etc.) correspond to what we called "forms of camp." (AU)
