Abstract

The research is part of a set of case studies of cities in the Campinas region representing the cycle of sugar in Sao Paulo. Delimits the case study of the urban formation of Campinas, a city that would become one of the most representative of the first cycle of the Paulista coffee. Aims to identify their initial training, especially the period of its setting as Villa de San Carlos until his elevation to the city of Campinas in 1842. Has the intention to understand the formation of the urban fabric of Campinas before the coffee cycle when the village was organized in the context of the sugar economy. The research also aims to identify their urban heritage preserved, or traces of these, with indication purposes of preservation policies and recovery of the identity of these nuclei and the appreciation of the historical aspects of their training. The research will also seek to identify the aspects of training land in urban land: the formation of the "look" and "term" identifying the role of ecclesiastical orders, the civil power (House) and residents' donor of land for the formation of urban heritage constitutive the cores. The method to be adopted is that of historical cartography that allows elaborate interpretive maps of the spatial configuration in urban centers in different historical moments. (AU)
