Abstract

In civil construction, the improper disposal of demolition and construction residues and high consumption of non-renewable natural resources are problems that tend to worsen over time, affecting the environmental conditions and the society quality of life as a whole. It is known, however, that in the composition of the demolition and construction residues there are many materials which can be reused. In order to minimize the problems mentioned above, it is proposed in this study the application of these residues in new materials composition. The motivation for this work lies in the fact that the production of concrete residues occurs in all types of construction, and their percentage is very high compared to other discarded materials. For this reason, and knowing that, when crushed, the concrete residue has physical characteristics similar to coarse sand, which can be added to the thin soil to correct its particle size distribution, in order to make them viable for the manufacture of soil cement, it is proposed in this research work, to study the application of this residue in plastic soil-cement composition for use in foundations pile. Laboratory tests will be performed in order to characterize the materials being used and also to evaluate the resistance and deformability characteristics of the plastic soil-cement will be produced and its behavior over time.
