The Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a biotechnology technique that consists of high concentration autologous platelets in a small volume of plasma from four to five times higher than serum concentrations in order to obtain better results in the treatment of various pathologies diseases. The use of PRP is justified by growth factors present in platelet granules within that signal to the local epithelial and mesenchymal cells to migrate and divide, thereby increasing the synthesis of extracellular matrix. Overall, these growth factors have mitogenic and angiogenic chemotactic characteristics that extend the power of tissue repair by promoting migration of cells responsible for defending the body and increased vascularity. There are several protocols PRP in horses described in the literature, among which stands out proposed by Carmona et al. 2007, where gave the highest platelet concentration (2.36 times longer than the serum), the second Vendruscolo et al., 2012. However, this is a procedure that requires a lab environment (aseptic) and a centrifuge. By contrast, the European market there is a filter (Equine Platelet Enhancent Therapy - E-PET), which provides for the production of PRP in the environment in which the animal is not necessary to centrifuge and other laboratory resources. This study aimed to compare the use of platelet concentrates obtained by double centrifugation protocol and that obtained by the E-PET, taking into consideration the final platelet concentration, quantification of growth factors, the presence of leukocytes and cost-effective among such methods.
