Abstract

The objective of this study is to evaluate the effects of electrical stimulation of the posterior tibial nerve on the quality sleep of postmenopausal women with symptoms of overactive bladder and nocturia associated. This is a prospective, randomized, controlled, in which 50 women will be selected to be in menopausal for more than 12 months and have symptoms of overactive bladder and nocturia. These will be submitted to a standard interview. Then be subject to an assessment of the pelvic floor muscles through the vaginal palpation, perineometer and electromyography. Will also apply the following questionnaires: Questionnaire on the life quality of patients with nocturia, King's Health Questionnaire (KHQ), Questionnaire on overactive bladder (OAB-q), Severity index of insomnia, Index of sleep quality Pittsburgh (PSQI), Epworth Sleepiness Scale. After the evaluations, subjects will be randomized by an evaluator blind into 2 groups: Group EE (12 sessions of electrical stimulation of the posterior tibial) and Group C (12 sessions of exercise and behavioral therapy). At the end of treatment, the volunteers will be reassessed. (AU)
