Abstract

Some substances can act as an immunostimulant and influence the responses of the immune system of the fish or its productive performance. The bacteria Rubrivivax gelatinosus is a fototrofic microorganism finding a function in cleaning up industrial effluents and, at the same time, provides a biomass that contains proteins, vitamins and carotenoids that can be used as a food supplement in aquaculture. Thus, the present study has as main objective to evaluate the administration of this biomass through diet supplemented with 0, 100, 200 and 400 mg.kg -1 for seven, 15 and 30 days to pacus. After the trial period, will be assessed the performance parameters (growth, weight gain, feed conversion, daily intake of food), hematological (hematocrit, red cell counts, hemoglobin and mean corpuscular volume of red blood cells), biochemical (total protein, albumin, globulin, A:G index) and immunological (lysozyme, respiratory activity of leukocytes and complement).
