Abstract

The research aims to evaluate the River Discontinuum (POOLE, 2002) in the Limoeiro stream, in the municipality of Presidente Prudente / SP. To do so, will be held in three sections limnological monitoring sample: I) a section in the Limoeiro stream, 200 meters upstream of the confluence with the Veado stream; II) a section in the Limoeiro stream, 200 meters downstream from the confluence with the Veado stream and iii) a section in the Veado stream, 200 meters upstream of the confluence with the Limoeiro stream. The monitoring will be done through quarterly sampling and limnological variables to be sampled in the field will be the dissolved oxygen (DO), pH, electrical conductivity (EC), nitrate (NO3-N), water temperature (T), turbidity (Turb) and N-ammonium (NH4-N), each sampled by a parametric Multiprobe brand Model Hanna HI9829. Still in the flow field is measured sections. In laboratory protocols are certain variables chlorophyll a according to Golterman et al. (1978), total suspended solids according to Wetzel & Likens (1991), dissolved phosphorus, soluble reactive phosphorus and total phosphorus according to (MACKERETH et al., 1978) and Kjeldahl nitrogen will be measured according to the methodology described in APHA (2005). Monitoring results will be tabulated and principal component analysis (PCA) (see GAUCH, 1994) will be applied to evaluate the River Discontinuum, ie check if the Veado stream, tributary Limoeiro stream, is a causative agent changes in the variables of water (chemical, physical and biological) Limoeiro stream.
