The lack of simplified methodologies for the treatment of sewage, which are appropriate and adaptable to multiple universes and unique conditions of urban and rural communities, has resulted in the aggravation of problems of national importance, since in many cases the wastewater is dumped in water bodies untreated, building barriers in the environmental health and public health. Given this context, this project aims to continue the researches carried out on a prototype system of sewage treatment consisting of linear combination of upflow anaerobic filters, filled with green coconut husks (Cocos nucifera) as support material, followed by filters of sand. It will be use different Hydraulic Retention Times (HRTàTDH) in anaerobic reactors, 4, 8, 12 and 24 hours to their respective Surface Application Rate (SARàTAS) in sand filters, 1200, 600, 400, 200, to evaluate the potential of organic matter removal and framing the legal standards of the system, even when operating under critical conditions (low TDHs and high TASs). It is noteworthy that the prototype system, which works on a pilot scale and is receiving ongoing support PROSAB and FAPESP (Process 01/12765-4, 02/05253-0, 01/00807-4, 07/03499-5 and 04 / 14902-7), is already deployed in LABPRO (Laboratório de Protótipos Aplicados ao Tratamento de Águas e Efluentes) of FEC-UNICAMP (Faculdade de Engenharia Civil, Arquitetura e Urbanismo), requiring only occasional adjustments to the start of sample collection. The execution of the analysis will be based on Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater (APHA et al., 2012) and will have their statistical interpretation made by Turkey to the test at 1% and 5% (p d 0.01 and 0.05).
