Abstract

This work will be developed in a semideciduous forest fragment in the restoration process surrounding the São Luiz water reservoir in Santa Barbara D'Oeste, São Paulo, in order to evaluate one region from one hectare, describing the current floristic and phytosociological compositions and comparing with previous samples. The earlier study in this area found that the bushes and trees communities have a good forest aspects, but shown a high mortality among plants, a few individuals shown regeneration in the sub woods, highlighted aggressive exotic grasses invasion in the existing gaps and a large proportion of pioneer species and few final plants of the succession, suggesting that the forest can be perpetuated in future. Thus, the monitoring of that forest community can provide important informations about the dynamic of the restoration processes that is being developing, thus enabling, document whether the forest tends to remain and also discuss actions that would be implemented to ensure, if there is a possibility, that the local forest developing process go on and succeed. In this view, due fact of many other forest implemented in recent decades in São Paulo and Brazil shown similar problems those observed in this forest, the results of this study may, at least in part, be useful in the management and maintenance of these other areas.
