Abstract

This study will evaluate an experimental silicone modified having as a parameter a silicone commonly used in the manufacture of facial prosthesis (MDX 4-4210) subject to the following conditions: pigmentation, aging and addition of opacifier. The variables analyzed are color change, hardness and tear strength. Will be obtained 120 specimens with circular form and 240 with dumbbell shaped from metal matrix. The specimens of each material will be distributed in four groups depending on the addition of intrinsic pigmentation (PI) by addition of powdered makeup, adding opacifier (OP - BaSO4), association of both (OP + PI ) and without adding IP or OP. Then, the specimens are randomly divided into three subgroups to aging by exposure to ultraviolet light (UV, n = 10) and natural light (LN, n = 10) and for control, absence of light (C, n = 10). The accelerated aging by ultraviolet light will simulate a period of 12 months. The specimens in groups C and LN will be accompanied by the same period.
