Abstract

Mandibular overdentures retained by a single implant have been presented as a treatment option for patients with problems related to lack of retention and stability of your lower dentures. However, there is no conclusive scientific evidence regarding the effect of this treatment on the quality of life of patients. Objective: To evaluate the quality of life of patients treated with mandibular overdentures retained by one or two implants. Methodology: Patients wearing bimaxillary complete dentures will be randomly divided into two groups and then underwent to placement of one (GI) or two (GII) implants in the anterior mandible. After four months, o'rings abutments will be installed on the implants and the attachments will be connected into the lower denture. The quality of life of patients will be evaluated before the surgery (evaluation 01 - "baseline") and 03 months after activation of the implant (evaluation 02).The results will be analyzed statistically with a significance level of 5%, by means of the IBM SPSS Statistics, (version 19.0), using appropriate test according to the type of the variable and the adherence of the data to normality.
