Abstract

During the last decade there has been great interest in systems such as lyotropic liquid crystalline systems for releasing biologically active agents, the cosmetic industry also in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. One reason is that the lyotropic liquid systems exist in many parts of our body, such as brain, muscle, retina and many others and their special structure plays an important role in our vital movements. Skin aging is a product of processes intrinsic and / or extrinsic factors. The skin changes resulting from these processes include dischromia, roughness, wrinkles and fine persistent followed by deeper wrinkles. Structurally this is explained by dermal atrophy, decreased collagen, loss of subcutaneous fat loss inherent elasticity, and increased melanogenesis. Among various subfragments of the propeptide, the KTTKS (residues 212-216 of type I collagen) was found to be the minimum sequence necessary to stimulate collagen production by 80% and fibronectin in a variety of mesenchymal cells. Because of this effect of stimulation of collagen synthesis, the KTTKS has attracted great attention as a cosmeceutical ingredient to provide anti-wrinkle and anti-aging.Thinking about all these issues, this master's project proposal is the development of liquid crystalline lamellar systems containing different concentrations of the peptide Ac - Wahx-KTTKS that has physical and chemical properties that will improve its permeation through the skin, in order to modulate their release and skin permeation. Will assess the cytotoxicity of the asset, the correlation between the structures, the release profiles and permeation of the active beyond the physical and chemical stability of liquid crystalline systems.
