Abstract

The aim of this study is to evaluate the influence of using different initiators (Camphorquinone- CQ and phenylpropanedione- PPD) used alone or in combination; allied or not an accelerator of polymerization (diphenyliodonium-DPI) the chemical and mechanical properties of experimental adhesives.To do this, 24 experimental adhesives are formulated by varying the amount of initiator (0.5 mol%, 1 mol%), the different initiators (CQ, PPD, PPD + CQ) and use the accelerator (DPI). After preparation of the solutions monomeric adhesive systems will be evaluated for sorption and solubility in water using the specimens (5mm diameter, 0.5 mm thick).The modulus of elasticity of the adhesive, as well as the flexural strength is obtained from the test of three-point bending (7mm long, 2 mm wide, 1 mm thick). The tensile strength is evaluated by tensile testing using specimens in the form of bar (1 mm thickness, 1 mm wide, 7mm long). The degree of monomer conversion of adhesive systems will be assessed through a Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The data will be analyzed statistically by analysis most appropriate for each test in question. (AU)
