Abstract

The Tachymenini tribe shows a high diversity of morphology, habitat use and feeding habits. Thus, this group is suited to a comparative study of ecology and evolution. The aim of this project is, using natural history data associated with phylogeny, to reconstruct the evolution of ecological traits in the group. We will obtain data on morphology, meristic, reproduction and feeding habits of the 35 described species. Information will be obtained from literature and in herpetological collections (e.g. Museum of Zoology, USP; National Museum of Rio de Janeiro and Goeldi Museum, Fundación Miguel Millo, Argentina; Museo Del La Salle Institute, Colombia Sociedad de Ciencias Naturales and "La Salle", Venezuela). The optimization of characters will allow to recognize the evolution of morphological, reproductive and feeding patterns in the tribe.
