Abstract

The main goal of the following proposal is to better comprehend the SW Atlantic Holocene paleoceanography, focusing on the last 2000 years, through the temperature and salinity (via ´18Osw) estimates based in geochemical proxies application of proxy based (chemical composition of planktonic foraminifera tests: stable isotopes - ´18O e ´13C - and Mg/Ca ratios) obtained in marine sedimentary records collected in the SE Brazilian margin from the outer shelf to the slope. The results will be interpreted and discussed under an oceanic and climatic regional and global perspective. As a main product, the development of this project will bring the knowhow of the preparation procedures and analytical capability to analyze elemental ratios in planktonic foraminifera tests, anmely Mg/Ca ratios, as it proposes to implement validate this method in IOUSP. This will represent a step in proxy data acquisition for the paleoceanographic research in IOUSP and in the São Paulo State. (AU)
