Abstract

The effects of exposure to air pollutants on human health is reflected preferably in diseases of the respiratory tract. The age groups most affected are children and the elderly. The aim of this study is to estimate the role of exposure to air pollutants in hospitalizations due to pneumonia in children living in Piracicaba, SP. It will be an ecological time series with data from hospitalizations in children under 10 years of age, living in Piracicaba, SP. The admission data will be obtained from Datasus (daily data obtained by routine File Transfer - reduced SIH). The data of air pollutants will be obtained CETESB. The study period is from 01.01.2012 to 31.12.2012. The relative risks of hospitalization according to exposure to PM10, NOx, NO, NO2 and O3 will be estimated. The statistical analysis will use generalized additive model Poisson regression because admissions are infrequent and discrete data. (AU)
