Abstract

Teneurins are constituted by four homologous (teneurin 1-4), initially characterized in mammals, and related to extracellular matrix proteins named tenascins. Teneurins are higher expressed in the central nervous system. Interestingly, this peptide family is conserved along with the different species and is mainly expressed during embryonary development. The purpose of the present study is to analyze teneurin expressions in the orofacial region during development since previous studies in mouse and chicken embryos suggested their participation in this biological process. Embryos and newborn rats will be used to analyze teneurin distributions in the orofacial region by employing the immunohistochemistry method.(AU)
