Palaeobiogeography and migratory routes of paleoinvertebrates of Paraná Basin (upper Devonian)

Abstract

The micro and macro fauna of invertebrates present in the intracratonic basins of Paraná, Amazonas and Parnaíba are relatively well know and documented in the literature. However, the northeast portion of the Paraná Basin which covers Mato Grosso and Goiás states is too much poor in paleofaunistic studies. Recent works shows that during the final of Eifelian to Frasnian (Middle-Upper Devonian) communications were possible between these three Paleozoic basins, facilitating migration routes of at least crinoids and trilobites on the north-south sense. The present research project is based in the hypothesis which there was dispersion routes between these Paleozoic basins. To confirm these routes, the fossils collected in the northeastern portion of Paraná Basin will be analyzed taxonomically and paleobiogeographically with the objective of finding similarities between these organisms and the faunas of the Amazonas and Parnaíba basins and with others basins of Gondwana.
