The conservation units (CU) were established with the objective of preserving the relevant areas for biodiversity and natural resources conservation once their exploitation by mankind has been unbridled since the arrival of settlers in Brazil. Among the different categories of the CU, the Environmental Protection Areas (EPA) are classified as sustainable use, covering both public and private lands. The sustainable exploitation of natural resources of EPAs is permitted once it occurs under the management plan, a technical document that establishes the zoning of CU and the standards that should guide the use and management of natural resources. The EPA Botucatu, consolidated in 1983, has significant natural attributes such as Basalt Cuestas, recharge areas of the Guarani Aquifer System (GAS), an important source of groundwater, in addition to remnants of native vegetation and wildlife. However, its management plan is not in practice until nowadays, which might compromise the preservation of natural resources. Due to disordered agricultural expansion, this CU's fragments of natural vegetation are surrounded by agricultural matrix which may threaten the perpetuation of countless resident species. A workaround this scenario is to establish connectivity networks that are an effective connection strategy between the fragments scattered in the agricultural landscape, thereby, using Remote Sensing and Multicriteria Analysis tools, this paper intends to establish priority areas for habitat connection between natural vegetation fragments of APA Botucatu, prioritizing areas that favor water production, since a large area of its territory is also a recharge area of the GAS.
