Influence of glycerol in digestibility and biohydrogenation of diets with different roughage

Abstract

With the advent of a large number of biodiesel by-products and co-products being generated and should be used in an environmentally appropriate and economically viable. An alternative would be the use of animal feed, mainly ruminants. The objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of the inclusion of 10% glycerin on the intake rate of biohydrogenation and digestibility of diets with different roughage sources. 9 Nellore steers will be used, cannulated in the rumen, arranged in a double 3x3 Latin square, three treatments (sugarcane bagasse, sugarcane, and fresh corn silage) with a fixed level of 10% glycerine and three periods.
