To use graphene as biosensor, complex functionalization techniques should be applied to increase the selectivity. This strongly limits it's pratical use. It is at this point that this BEPE Project is applied. During the development of the Post Doctoral in Brazil [PROJECT FAPESP 2011/23084-0], in parallel with the use of the nitrogen doped graphene as sensor, several others two-dimensional layered materials were use as the matrix of the sensors, like silicene, germanene and MoS2. From the selectivity point of view, all the three systems were most promising as compared with graphene. In addition to the selectivity, another importante property is how these devices are reseted for reuse. The approach most commonly used is the application of an external electric field through a gate electrode. Besides the property to restore the settings of the sensor, the presence of an external electric field can provide greater control of the electronic and transport properties of the material, so it is very important to understand the effect of an external electric field applied to the materials that are used as the sensor array. Thus, we will extend the research on MoS2 in the presence of external electric fields, focusing on how these external fields modify the electronic structure of MoS2 monolayers and multilayers. Another important point to be investigated is how these electric fields modify the vibrational spectra of these systems. (AU)
