Abstract

The destruction of Mata Atlântica and Cerrado is among the most alarming issues of ecological conservation in the world. For the preservation of native species and biomes is necessary to not only the conservation of remaining natural, through the establishment of protected areas, but the possibilities to optimize the management strategies in these locations. Known environmental conservation is one of the main bases for genetic diversity. So, in addition to the w and floristic diversity, forest management projects also need consider the genetic diversity of these communities. This project proposes to carry out an in-depth study on the conditions of genetic diversity and genetic structure in Cerrado, Mata Atlântica and their ecotones, including collections in protected areas. The aim of this study will be Casearia sylvestris, native tree of known importance of phytotherapy, which has two varieties, one occurring in the Mata Atlântica (var. sylvestris) and another in Cerrado (var. lingua). In addition, the work to be developed will seek, through population genomics, that will be used the SNPs, target regions of the genome of the species studied, locus with adaptive genetic variation that respond to different selection in Biomes and varieties. The genetic data obtained from neutral and adaptive genetic variation will be used in conjunction to establish Management Units and units of evolutionary significance and in this way contribute to decisions and management strategies in the study.
