This study aims to understand the processes of pain and quality of life of women with breast cancer, as a contribution to the work of Occupational Therapy. This is qualitative research conducted through direct interviews and in-depth, based on a semi-structured questionnaire. The interviewees are diagnosed with cancer patients after mastectomy surgery, assisted in the Center for Teaching, Research and Care in Rehabilitation of mastectomy (REMA), the School of Nursing of Ribeirão Preto - USP. The selection of the sample will be made from the data collected in a previous study from the same research group (Faria and De Carlo, 2011), in which was applied the "Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Breast" (FACT-B) protocol, the from these data collected will be, have been identified women who had greater impairment in their quality of life and functionality, and among the topics covered in-depth interview will be assessed particularly the aspect of pain and its consequences on the quality of life of this population.
