Abstract

Distributed Virtual Environments allow multiples users to navigate virtual worlds simulated on different workstations, sharing information and interacting with objects in real-time. The dynamic environment and the changes in states of shared objects must be handled to keep the consistency of several presentations replicated. There are different techniques to be applied for tracking the effects of changes on environment state simulated on several workstations, and it is necessary to consider the degree of consistency required to choose one. The majority of the DVEs systems available support a limited number of users. According to the number of users grows, increases the amount of bandwidth necessary for information exchange in real-time between the stations to update the environment and keep it in a consistent state for all connected users. This research project proposes the specification and implementation of a communication framework, based on protocol anycast native of the protocol IPv6, as mechanisms to obtain scalability and performance in distributed virtual environments.
