The present study was carried out to evaluate the plankton and periphytic communities and water quality in four fishponds with two kinds of treatments, periphyton and macrophyte. Some abiotic parameters of water column and plankton and periphytic communities were sampled at two sites, one before the water treatments (macrophyte and/or periphyton) and other after the treatments (effluent). This study was divided in two parts: the first was about abiotic parameters of water and the periphyton biochemical study, during September/2011 to July/2012. The second part will be analysed in this projet about quantitative and qualitative study of the plankton and periphyton communities in the four fishpond with different treatments (macrophyte and/or periphyton). The macrophytes and periphyton seems to have the key position in the development of the ecological state in fishponds. The use of macrophyte and periphyton is a viable technology for the biological treatment in aquaculture farm. Natural treatment systems have been extensively used in aquaculture due to the fact that aquatic plants and periphyton, as primary producers, retrieve from the water the nutrients and others substances needed for their development. In this part of the study will be hypothesized that: i) - the community attributes (abundance and diversity) change in the different treatments; ii) - the water parameters influence these attributes; iii) - the presence of macrophyte and/or periphyton treatment has a positive effect in the water quality and influence of plankton communities.
