Allometry of Schizolobium parahyba (Vell.) Blake Lofgren Alberto State Park, São Paulo-SP

Abstract

The study of allometry in trees comprising characteristics ratio of structural, functional and ecological which are influenced by the change in body size during growth. With this work we aim to: (a) determine the allometric pattern of Schizolobium parahyba, (b) determine which environmental factors and which months of the year have more influence in formation of growth rings, (c) relate the hydraulic conductivity with anatomical features, density, lignin and cellulose grade in the specie (d) determine the value of Conduit-Tapering of this specie. Individuals of Schizolobium parahyba from Alberto Löfgren State Park will be collected and prepared for the proposed analyzes. After measuring growth rings, we will made the cross-dating using the program Cofecha and standardization of data through the program Arstan for later comparisons with the climatic and ecological data. Later, we will analyze the hydraulic architecture and allometry of the specie. The understanding of allometry patterns and growth in Schizolobium parahyba will expand knowledge about the responses of this specie facing environmental and ecological characteristics. Therefore, this study can help future programs of reforestation and forest management, since guapuruvu is widely used for reforestation because of its rapid growth.
