Self-efficacy as a construct of Social Cognitive Theory has a predictive and mediational role on motivation, persistence and resilience of individuals. In the field of teaching, this construct is defined as the judgment the teachers make about their own capabilities to reach desired outcomes of student engagement and learning, even among those students who may be difficult or unmotivated. We seek, through this research project, to investigate the significant situations and circumstances that mobilize self-efficacy beliefs of novice teacher of Physical Education, since the knowledge of these factors can provide subsidies so that, together with other components of the curriculum, enable the creation of education systems with a view to promoting the development of efficacy beliefs of future teachers. Physical Education teachers beginning their careers, working mostly in public State High Schools in cities under the jurisdiction of the Board of Education of Limeira, SP, Brazil, will participate in this study. The participants will respond to a semi-structured interview, in order to provide data that would allow an understanding of how their experiences can be interpreted as sources of self-efficacy constitution. Thus, we expect to find subsidies that allow reflection concerning to academic education and training of future Physical Education teachers - as well as concerning to continuing education for beginning Physical Education teachers - to positively assist the building of their self-efficacy beliefs.
