Abstract

With the objective to verify the cardiorespiratory and sedative effects of acepromazine or xylazine in combination with methadone, morphine, or tramadol in sheep, will be used 6 animals, males, Santa Ines, clinically healthy. They will be randomly distributed into eight groups of six animals in a blinded crossover study, with a minimum interval of 7 days between treatments. The groups are designated as GA (acepromazine 0,02 mg/kg), GAM (acepromazine 0,02 mg/kg + 0,5 mg/kg de methadone), GMO (acepromazine 0,02 mg/kg + 0,5 mg/kg de morphine), GAT (acepromazine 0,02 mg/kg + 5 mg/kg de tramadol), GX (xylazine 0,04 mg/kg), GXM (xylazine 0,04 + 0,5 mg/kg de methadone), GXMO (xylazine 0,04 + 0,5 mg/kg de morphine) e GXT (xylazine 0,04 + 5 mg/kg de tramadol), applied in combination in the same syringe i.v. Will be evaluated parameters of the heart and respiratory rate, systolic, mean and diastolic blood pressure, rectal temperature, hydrogen potential in arterial blood (PHA), partial pressure of oxygen in arterial blood (PaO2), partial pressure of carbon dioxide in arterial blood (PaCO2), arterial oxygen saturation (SaO2), bicarbonate (HCO3), base deficit (DEB) and sedation. Data will be collected in the moments M0 to M120, with M0: basal, M15: 15 minutes after administration of the drugs, and remainder moments corresponding to an interval of 15 minutes, a total of two hours of assessment. The results will be tested using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test when the data present normal distribution will be employed analysis of variance (ANOVA) with repeated measures, and Bonferroni's complementary analysis and variables with a normal distribution are compared with the Wilcoxon test. The significance level is 5%. (AU)
