Abstract

During the last years, the minimal invasive surgery demonstrate unequaled advantages compared to the conventional surgery, such as less invasive surgical procedures, minor tissue lesions, surgical duration, blood loss, post-operative pain, duration of hospitalization, incision extend and trans and post-operative complications. These conditions attract new followers and stimulate the development of innovative instrumentals with potential application on Veterinary Medicine. The laparoscopic surgical techniques Laparo-endoscopic single site (LESS) is one example of these instrumentals applications, resulting in a revolution in surgical procedures in Veterinary Medicine. We aimed to evaluate the ovaryhisterectomy in female dogs, using a single port technique (SILSTM), comparing to videolaparoscopic technique of single-port through one laparoscopic port and celiotomy, to analyze the learning curve, hematological and serum parameters, inflammatory response, complications during trans or post-operative, blood loss and behavior alterations of the patients submitted of these surgical procedures. Thirty female dogs will be separated in tree groups: conventional ovaryhisterectomy by celiotomy (G1), single-port ovaryhisterectomy using laparoscopic working channel (GII) and laparoscopic ovaryhisterectomy using SILSTM (GIII) instruments. The trans-operative evaluation will consist of surgical duration to determinate the learning curve, and scores of trans and post-operative complications of the different groups. The post-operative evaluation will consist of measurement of pain through pain scale from Melbourne University, Glasgow, Morton and visual analogue scale (VAS) on moments: basal moment (Mb), one hour (M1), two hours (M2), four hours (M4), eight hours (M8), 12 hours (M12), 16 hours (M16) and 24 hours (M24). The surgical trauma evaluation will consist of C-reactive protein and interleukin-6 measurements on moments: basal moment (Mb), one hour (M1), six hours (M6), 12 hours (M12), 24 hours (M24), 48 hours (M48) and 72 hours (M72). The analyzes of clinical, hematological, serum and behavioral parameters will allow the detection of stress levels and inflammatory response, to demonstrate advantages or disadvantages of laparoscopic ovaryhistectomy using LESS, single-port with laparoscopic abdominal working channel and conventional ovaryhisterectomy through celiotomy.
